As part of its social responsibility and the ‘Let’s Make This Summer Green’ campaign, the Conservation Team at Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) organised a series of online awareness activities in collaboration with Association of Families of Persons with Disabilities–UAE. The virtual conservation events aim to raise conservation awareness among people of determination.
The two-day event included entertainment activities and simplified awareness lectures, which witnessed much interaction from about 250 people of determination and their parents. During the sessions, DEWA provided a detailed explanation of the most important conservation tips during summer. It also discussed different ways to benefit from its initiatives that focus on the residential sector. These include the ‘My Sustainable Living Programme,’ which enable residential customers to compare their monthly electricity and water use with the average of similarly efficient homes. The programme helps customers make responsible decisions in conservation, by providing tips tailored to their needs.
“DEWA is committed to raising awareness in society, on the importance of adopting conservation. Throughout the year, it launches innovative initiatives and projects, that provide simple and easy guidelines. This helps all customer segments to adopt a responsible and sustainable lifestyle in electricity and water use and follow simple daily steps to reduce waste. This supports the UAE’s efforts in protecting the environment and natural resources. It also contributes to reducing the carbon footprint to achieve the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, which aims to make Dubai the city with the lowest carbon footprint in the world by 2050. DEWA’s use of the latest Fourth Industrial Revolution applications and disruptive technologies has contributed to providing smart services that enable customers to monitor their consumption on a daily basis and make them effective partners in consolidating sustainable development in Dubai. This achieves the Demand Side Management Strategy to reduce 30% of the consumption by 2030,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.
Fatima Mohammed Sajwani, board member of the Association of Families of Persons with Disabilities – UAE thanked DEWA for the fruitful participation in its summer activity.
